Notable Guests

Paul Solman
Paul Solman, author and PBS Newshour Correspondent since 1985, visited our farm to interview us for a PBS newshour special. As an economic and business correspondent, Paul was interested to know how our family owned, craft cannabis farm was holding space alongside larger and heavily funded corporations. We were thankful for this incredible opportunity to share our story with Paul, the PBS production team Diane Lincoln with cameraman Eric O’ Connor, and the world.

Jorge Cervantes
Alpenglow Farms had the honor of hosting Jorge Cervantes and giving him a garden tour. Jorge appreciated our living soils, companion planting and hugelkulture practices, and was impressed by our ability to partner with nature. Jorge is an expert in cannabis cultivation and has published multiple books on the subject. Jorge’s knowledge of growing plants is why his “Medical Bible” is a must have by anyone interested in any horticultural how-to.

Doug Fir
In April 2023, almost 30 years to the day Craig first visited Humboldt, Doug Fir handed Craig his box of legacy genetics. This was beyond an honor as Doug is an outstanding community member, while also being one of the key actors in the “1979 drop.” Doug created a legacy with these genetics, and Craig has now been given the responsibility of preserving this legacy; be it through genetics, culture and place.

Dr. Elaine Inghram
It was an honor to have the “Godmother” of the Soil Food Web visit our homestead. Dr. Elaine not only got a tour of our regenerative farming practices, but she also put her hands in our soil! We greatly admire Dr. Inghram for her commitment towards teaching soil health and her deep belief that we can heal this beautiful earth. Craig and our oldest daughter Mahala completed her microscopy class, and Melanie is a graduate of Dr. Elaine Inghrams, as she completed the Soil Food Web Foundational Courses in June of 2023.

Max Montrose
Max Montrose has spent over a decade on cannabis legalization policy and lectures worldwide on all things cannabis, including sacred plant medicines from both a shamanic and scientific approach. As a published author of multiple textbooks and producer of the world’s first cannabis quality SOP and certification process, Max is also the creator of Interpening, The Trichome Institute.

Craig and Max met at Solful’s grand opening and soon Max was visiting Alpenglow Farms and the exchange of knowledge ensued. Max being Max worked his magic and created two incredible opportunities for our family; a spot on NBC’s 1st Look with Johnny Bananas, and dinner with Pete Evans. Our family just loves Max, and the otherworldly experiences he brings, and we are forever grateful for the connection we have and shared.

Johnny Bananas
Johnny Devenanzio, better known as Johnny Banana’s is a reality star and multiple seasons winner of MTV’s The Challenge.

He was also the host of NBC’s show 1st Look from 2018-2023. Johnny visited Alpenglow Farms and family on 1st Look episode “Johnny Gets a Job” where he learned cannabis food pairing with cannabis sommelier Max Montrose.

We had a blast hosting Johnny and Max (and the entire NBC crew) on our homestead, while also being the show’s guests for the episode’s dinner.

We appreciate the Historic Benbow Inn for providing the exquisite meal for the 1st Look episode, Dan and Reka for being the other couple included in the dinner scene, Max Montrose for the incredible opportunity, and Johnny Banana for his kindness and joy shown to our family and children.

Pete Evans
Pete Evans is an internationally renowned chef, restaurateur, entrepreneur, key note speaker, author, television presenter and documentary producer.

Our family first learned about Pete through his documentary The Magic Pill, a must watch by anyone interested in how food contributes to one’s wellness and wellbeing. Max Montrose was included in Pete’s second documentary The Magic Plant, which takes one on the journey of plant medicine. Our family and homestead hosted Pete while he interviewed Max and his incredible intellect surrounding cannabis for the documentary. Our family had fun eating a dinner of fresh crab with Pete and his crew, enjoying a family style sauna, and discussing all things cannabis, past and present, in between the filming.

Mila Jansen
“The Hash Queen”
One of cannabis’s rare female icons, Mila became known as the ‘Queen of Hash” when she became the first person to mechanically separate tricomes from the plant. Mila is a mother, traveler, business woman and inventor whose love for hash and life led her and her family to travel the world in search of exquisite hash and experiences. This Dutch icon spent most of her life in Amsterdam, and though she’s traveled the world, the most notable trips have been to Turkey, Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan and India; where she and her children lived for 14 years. In 1960’s Amsterdam, Mila opened a tea house (which was the later influences of cannabis coffee houses, but with the most significant difference being nothing was sold; everything was shared or exchanged).
Mila has been smoking hash exclusively for over 50 years and believes sharing this special resin from the plant creates bonds and friendships. Though she concedes the cannabis industry was a man’s world, she never had to compete with them because her product was so different and her invention “The Pollinator” so unique. Mila has since invented three hash making machines; The Pollinator, Bubblelator, and the Ice-O-Lator. She also created and curates “Dabadoo”, an invite only hash event that takes place at different locations all around the world. We had an incredible opportunity to host Mila and her family here at Alpenglow Farms and the afternoon led to night as we ate apple pie from my grandmother’s china, toured the gardens, shared stories, and of course tasted incredible hash.

DragonFly Earth Medicine
Kelly & Josh
For over 25 years, Kelly and Josh have dedicated their lives to the regeneration of the Earth and all her beings. Creating both plant and human health products on their homestead in British Columbia, Kelly and Josh’s mission is supporting people throughout the world to align and ally with nature by utilizing nature’s systems to become self and community-sufficient.

We had the opportunity to meet Kelly and Josh and become DEM PURE certified, which is a regenerative certification that is beyond organic; it recognizes that a farmer is utilizing solely regenerative and biologically intelligent practices. Key elements of the certification include 1) gardens/homesteads that produce the highest quality of medicine and food while being ecologically sustainable, 2) being stewards of the land by encompassing six or more closed loop systems; gardens that include biodiversity and polyculture, worm farms, mulching, chipping, and shredding of garden “waste”, live raw tea brews, employing agri-cultures throughout the gardens, continual soil building, mycro remediation, cover cropping, water recycling, and soil food web education, and 3) giving back to the community through both the sharing of knowledge and embarking on leadership and activism roles for the earth and the plants.

Dragonfly Earth Medicine is a movement of love that incorporates both the sharing of medicine and the making of medicine. Kelly and Josh have created a life of inspiration and service, and continue to create a variety of products for both the garden and the soul (dragonflyearthmedicine.com). We are beyond grateful to the stars above for aligning us with these two “humus beings” who continue to share their love and support to us and all beings of this universe.
