Craig, 1993

It was in April of 1993 that Craig was invited by a second generation Southern Humboldt local to visit the area. Craig immediately fell in love with the mountains, rivers and ocean, and knew he was going to make a life for himself there one day.

As Craig was spending his winter seasons skiing, and the growing seasons in Humboldt, the time had come for him to go back to his home state of Wisconsin for a much needed knee surgery (both knees at the same time!) and to spend time with his grandparents. That’s where he met Melanie; and after a few dates he knew he was taking her back to Humboldt County to start a life with him.

In 2003 Craig and Melanie bought a piece of property (that needed LOTS of cleaning up), and though Melanie was not at all thrilled at the work in front of them, Craig promised her that the land was a diamond in the rough.

Craig and Melanie married in the mountains of Colorado in 2004 and welcomed their two daughters a few years later.

Two decades have since passed and Craig and Melanie still continue to learn the fine art of growing a garden and a family in the mountains of Southern Humboldt.
